Ask about size of company, although large is not always better. Also be aware that no matchmaker can match for chemistry for you.. |

How Shy Singles Meet and Date through Matchmakers |
|
By Pat McChristie |
Quite
simply: Personal matchmakers offer singles ways of meeting and dating. |
Size At first, it probably sounds like the more the merrier. A bigger service has more people to meet. Is it better? It depends. If the size increase comes about because the service sells longer memberships, and this is often the reason, it probably will not be better. Why? Although it can take some time to find a soulmate, after a year or so, people begin to lose interest in the service. Tip: Stick with a service that sells short-term memberships. This will probably mean the people you meet are still enthusiastic about meeting. Active Along the same lines, ask how many members are active. Inactive members will not benefit you unless they go active again in the future. But... some members will still be active and not really be enthusiastic about meeting. This happens in any service and can not be helped. In addition, many people do not go inactive as soon as they meet someone who has the potential of a significant other. Therefore, don't feel rejected if you run across someone who says, "Oh, I forgot to go inactive but I am seeing someone." It is usually true. |

| Free Singles who are given memberships in a service are often not enthusiastic participants. Ask about a matchmaker's policy of giving away memberships. Ideally, everyone should pay something to be in a service, even if it is a reduced or "sale" price. Mix Although in any service, the mix changes over time, you want people of the correct gender in your age range. Unless a service makes an effort to balance their database, it will follow the general population. This means there will be more older women and younger men. Older women and younger men are more common as couples now than in the past. However, there is still some discrepancy here. Generally, targeted advertising and price specials can be used to balance the mix. Chemistry Don't expect anyone to be able to match for chemistry for you. In fact, beware of any matchmaker who claims to have that ability. It can't be done, even if the matchmaker claims "psychic abilities." Once a matchmaker has matched for tangible factors such as age, height, children, etc. and intangible compatibility factors, such as interests, values, etc., then you must meet the person to screen for chemistry. Chemistry is made up of such factors as personality, the way a person moves, the childhood memories a person invokes (Mom, Dad, the first person you ever kissed, etc.), smiles, even the way a person smells. No photo or video can tell you whether chemistry will be present. You must have a face-to-face meeting to determine chemistry. First meetings: Safety first: Travel in two cars, do not leave together, and do not divulge addresses or other personal information so soon in a potential relationship. We suggest no alcohol on the first meeting, but certainly no more than one drink. Alcohol impairs judgment. Tip: When chemistry is high, you are more likely to abandon caution. Be most cautious when chemistry is highest! And that is not all... More to come, Also try my Dating and Meeting Tips that are changed often. You will find good advice there. |
